FOLDING A FITTED SHEET

by Marissa Zumbo, October 2021

There are many difficult things in this world… things that cause frustration, a sense of hopelessness, and just plain anger. One of those things: folding a fitted sheet.

Those darn rounded corners can be the bane of your existence. Don’t let them win. Let us help you learn how to conquer those blasted fitted sheets.

Folding fitted sheets success starts here:

  1. Take your sheet out of the dryer and turn it inside out.

  2. Place each hand inside the top two corners, right in the seams (meaning the longer sides are descending down). The sheet should now be inside out, with the opening facing you.

  3. Bring your right hand to your left, and fold the corner on your right hand over the one in your left, so the corner on top is right side out.

  4. Reach down and pick up the corner that is adjacent to the one that was in your right hand (it will be hanging in front). Fold that corner over the other two corners-- now this third corner will be inside out.

  5. Find the last corner and place your hand inside, at the seam. Bring your right hand to your left again. Grab the corner by the seam and fold it over the others so it is right-side out.

  6. Lay the folded sheet on a flat surface and fold edges so the elastic is in an L-shape.

  7. Fold the sheet into halves or until the rectangle is the size you want it to be.

There you go! I know this can seem complicated, so we included a video from Crane & Canopy to show you how it’s done.

Save your non-fitted sheets for your ghost costumes this Halloween and fold those fitted sheets right!
